The inmates housed at Vienna Correctional located at 6695 State Rte 146 E in Vienna, IL are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Vienna Correctional Center is the parent institution for Dixon Springs Impact Incarceration Program (IIP).
The mission of the Vienna Correctional Center is to protect the public through a system of incarceration, supervision, and education by securely supervising offenders while providing a rehabilitative foundation for the offender's reintegration into society. As an incentive to rehabilitate negative behavior and reinforce rehabilitative qualities, Vienna Correctional Center offers offenders access to a variety of programs.
Vienna Correctional Center is located in Johnson County Illinois adjacent to the Shawnee National Forest. It is a minimum security correctional facility that can house 1,969 adult male inmates on 40 acres enclosed by fences. Vienna Correctional Center also manages Dixon Springs Impact Incarceration Program. A variety of educational and vocational programs helps offenders gain new skills they can use for the rest of their lives. Inmates incarcerated at Vienna Correctional Center can earn an adult basic education and GED. Offenders can also participate in vocational studies that include auto body and mechanical repair, cosmetology, various construction disciplines, custodial work, horticulture, barbering, culinary arts, and more. Offenders are also encouraged to take anger management and life skills courses, substance abuse treatment and re-entry programs that help inmates prepare for release.

IL DOC – Vienna Correctional Center – Visitation

Visiting Hours

8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven (7) days a week. Offenders are permitted seven (7) visits per month, with no more than three (3) on weekends or holidays.

No visitor shall be admitted beginning one hour prior to the end of visiting hours.

Visitors to any correctional facility will be required to produce photo identification and verification of date of birth. Please be sure to bring 2 forms of identification with you; these would include a current photo ID such as a driver’s license, a state ID card, government ID card, military ID/driver’s license, or acceptable documentation of non-U.S. citizenship including a current Passport, or Visa, documentation must contain the visitor’s date of birth. Expired forms of identification will not be accepted. Visitors will also be required to provide vehicle information and other pertinent data, such as government identification, official credentials, attorney registration, and or law student certification.
