The inmates housed at Miami Correctional located at 3038 W 850 South in Bunker Hill, IN are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

The Miami Correctional Facility is located on 200 acres of the former Grissom Air Force Base. The Indiana Department of Correction classifies this prison a Level 2/3 or medium/high medium security correctional facility. The Phase I of the facility houses more than 1,224 offenders including the minimum security facility, which is located outside the secured perimeter of the medium security facility. Phase II construction began in 1999 and ended in 2001. The first housing unit in Phase II opened in October 2001. This phase houses an additional 1,632 offenders. Miami Correctional Facility’s total bed capacity is 3,188.

Miami Correctional Facility is located in Bunker Hill Indiana. It is a mixed custody facility that houses high, medium, and minimumsecurity inmates. Currently this prison can hold about 3,188 adult males. Inmates incarcerated at Miami Correctional Facility can participate in a variety of vocational programs and work opportunities, some of which are offered through the US Department of Labor as apprenticeship programs. These programs include landscaping, barbering, building maintenance, sanitation, and recycling.
Miami Correctional Facility offers inmates educational opportunities including the ability to earn a GED and adult basic education, business courses, and college correspondence classes. Offenders can also receive counseling for substance abuse, fatherhood and parenting, and a variety of other areas.

Offenders and their visitors may no longer share food during visits; a one- time vending machine purchase for the offender will be permitted. The purchased food will be bagged, tagged and given to the offender at the end of their visit, all vending machine food will be consumed when the offender returns to his respective housing unit. Please notify your visitors of this change, as the dollar amount allowed into the facility will be reduced to a maximum of $20.00.
In addition, ALL visits will be non-contact with no hug or kiss at the beginning and end of visits. THIS INCLUDES CHILDREN.
