The Kemper County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 374 Stennis Industrial Park Road De Kalb, MS which is operated locally by the Kemper County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Kemper County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the De Kalb Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Kemper Neshoba Regional Correctional Facility is also the Kemper County Jail overseen by the Kemper Sheriff's office.
The Kemper Neshoba Regional Correctional is made up of a Warden, 2 Captains,4 Lieutenants, 4 Sergeants, 21 Correctional Officers, 2 Nurse, 2 Chaplains, 2 Case Workers and 1 Office Manager.
The Kemper Neshoba Regional Correctional Facility house both male and female inmates. No juveniles, they are housed in Scott County MS.
The men's side of the jail has a capacity of 280 state, 50 Joint County State and 50 county inmates.
The female side capacity is 75 state and 12 county inmates.
Mail: Inmates receive their mail daily. All inmate mail going out and coming into the Jail is checked for contraband. Legal mail is the only exception.
Medical: Inmates may request to see the nurse daily by filling out a request stating the reason for medical attention. The nurse is on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week for emergencies.If a county inmate is on medication they should bring their medicine with them or have a family member bring it to the Jail in the original bottle. Medicine is dispensed by the nurse as ordered by the doctor.
Work Release: Some inmates are allowed to work in out Joint County Work Center. These inmates go out and work. These inmates are used to collect trash along our state roads. Sheriff Moore started inmates collecting trash on all out county roads and our inmates also work do repair work on the local churches, all they do is buy the materals and we do the work. This is one of the Sheriff's way of giving back to the communty
