Kent County MI Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 616-632-6300
This facility is for adult inmates.
The Kent County MI Correctional Facility is a medium-security detention center located at 703 Ball Ave Grand Rapids, MI which is operated locally by the Kent County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Kent County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Grand Rapids Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Correctional Facility is a system of facilities that house the inmates committed to the custody of the Sheriff. In addition to these, the jail always has a small number of inmates out on Writs that are temporarily lodged in other jails or prisons.
The main jail employs the podular and dormitory housing designs to accommodate approximately 1,100 inmates of all security classifications. The facility is programmed for internal security to consist of a combination of direct and indirect supervision.
We are one of the few facilities in the country to have three state-of-the-art integrated computer systems working simultaneously. We employ a Jail Management System which ties in with our live scan Identix fingerprint and Video Mugshot systems.
Inmates order commissary on Wednesday – they have phone cards available for direct dialing ($20 min). Inmate phone service through Securus. Fifteen-minute calls are $8.10. With an InmateAid number, we can get the same 15-minute call for $3.15 (save $4.95 per call). Click here to check it out.
