The Keweenaw County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 5105 4th St Eagle River, MI which is operated locally by the Keweenaw County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Keweenaw County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Eagle River Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department is the only law enforcement agency located within the County. The Department operates a seven-bed, 72-hour lock up. Operations include, but not limited to, housing and safeguarding of inmates including transportation requirements.
