The Lassen County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 1405 Sheriff Cady Ln Susanville, CA which is operated locally by the Lassen County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Lassen County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Susanville Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Lassen County Jail is a type II facility as defined by the California Board of State and Community Corrections. As such, the Lassen County Jail houses both pre-trial and sentenced inmates. The jail has a rated capacity of 156 inmates.
The Lassen County Jail receives all persons arrested or under sentence for state crimes that occur in Lassen County. Accordingly, ANY of the law enforcement agencies patrolling the county may make an arrest and book an inmate into the county jail. Generally, the top booking agencies are the Lassen County Sheriff's Office, the California Highway Patrol, and the Susanville Police. Along with those departments, the jail also receives bookings from: Lassen County Probation, CDCR, Cal-Fire, Herlong Security, F.B.I., and any other agency with arrest powers operating in Lassen County. The jail averages about 1,400 bookings per year and has an average daily population of 120.
