This facility is for adult inmates.

The Licking County OH Justice Center is a medium-security detention center located at 155 East Main St Newark, OH which is operated locally by the Licking County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Licking County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Newark Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

There is no limitation to the number of letters that an inmate may send and receive. Indigent inmates will receive postage and stationery to send 2 letters per week. Incoming and outgoing mail is subject to search for contraband. Incoming and outgoing mail must include a full return address. Mail received must be written in English. Any incoming mail not following these guidelines will be marked, "Return to Sender" and placed back in the outgoing mail.

Inmates may receive cards, letters, and photographs in the mail. Cards and photographs may not exceed 5" x 7" in size. Polaroids, nude or partially nude photographs are not permitted. Inmates may not receive packages.

Items inmates are not permitted to receive include, but are not limited to:

Tobacco products of any sort
Pornography or suggestive materials
No books, magazines, periodicals, etc.
Mail containing removable mechanisms, batteries, metal, or other non-permitted materials, i.e. musical cards
No Cash or Checks

There are several ways for you to fund an inmate’s phone account by visiting the Securus Technologies web site, or by calling (800)-844-6591. You may also fund the Inmate’s Trust Account so they can purchase phone cards. See commissary below.

Commissary

All inmates are provided basic hygiene items when booked into our facility. Indigent inmates that are provided are: basic hygiene items, paper and envelopes during their entire incarceration.

Commissary services will be offered two times per week. This will be provided by Keefe Commissary Network.

Inmates have access to phones in all modules. Phone cards are available in $5 increments + tax. If an inmate cannot purchase a phone card, they are able to make collect calls. Inmates are not permitted to use facility phones and we do not take messages for inmates.

Money from outside sources will be accepted 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.

Haircuts and beard trims are available every other week. Indigent inmates may receive a haircut every 30-day period as long as the inmate has been indigent during that period.

Medical

Inmates have access to medical, dental and mental health services. No inmate is denied access to these services due to inability to pay.

Inmates receive a physical and mental health assessment within 14 days of incarceration. The Facility Physician determines all other services. A dentist is "in-house" every 2 weeks and a psychiatrist is "in-house" every week.

Inmate Visitation Schedules

To use this form you must know the housing unit and bed number of the inmate you want to visit. After acquiring the inmates housing information return to this webpage and scroll down to the appropriate housing unit and bed number. Each inmate is allowed two visits per week. One 20 minute visit on Wednesday or Thursday and one 30 minute visit on Saturday or Sunday. The visit schedule is based on the inmates housing location at the time of the visit. If the inmate is moved for any reason this will affect their visit time so please check the inmate's housing location before their scheduled visit.

Inmate MOD Listing

To look up an inmate's visitation schedule, you will need to make sure you know where the inmate is being housed in our facility. To do this you must first click on the Jail Inmate List on the Sheriff's Office site, and then scroll down until you find the inmate's name and note their Housing Unit and Bed Number. Then close that window and click on the Jail Inmate Visitation link and click on the Visitation Schedule. At the bottom of the table are tabs indicating each Housing Unit, click on the appropriate Housing Unit, find the inmate's bed number and wherever it falls in the table indicates their visit times. The top of the table indicates the day of the week; the left side of the table indicates the time. Remember, they can be moved in the facility at any time so you should always check to make sure their visit times haven't changed.

To find out the visitation time, you will need to know the module and the bed number for the inmate you're wishing to visit. It is the inmate's responsibility to inform his/her visitor's of this information.

It is the policy of the Licking County Sheriff's Office to encourage inmates to maintain contact with their families and friends through regular visits. Visiting is scheduled to allow such access on a regular basis, limited only by staff demands and the visiting schedule. All inmates shall be afforded the opportunity for regularly scheduled visitation.

Visitation is provided for inmates two times a week in 20 and 30-minute intervals. Disciplinary inmates are provided visitation one time per week, on Saturday or Sunday, with family members only.

The cancellation of regular visitation hours due to emergency situations or severe weather conditions will resume with the next scheduled visitation as soon as the Jail Administrator clears such situations.

On Thursday, October 23, 2014 the Licking County Justice Center began using a "Remote-at-Home Video Visitation" system for friends and family visits with inmates housed in certain housing units. Inmates in these units will have the opportunity to visit with friends and family from a video visitation terminal in their housing module. The new system will allow visitors to conduct a "remote-at-home" visit using their computer, webcam and high speed internet connection. The “Remote-at-Home” visitation is only available for inmates housed in MOD B, MOD C, MOD J and MOD H at this time. Rules for Visitors

Visitors shall not enter any areas of the facility except the lobby and visitation area.
All visitors are required by law to register on the Visitor Registration Log. A valid photo ID with birth date is required to register. If the ID does not include a birth date, other supporting documentation must be provided, such as a certified birth certificate, along with the photo ID.
No more than two (2) adult visitors will be permitted in the visiting area at any one time for each inmate. Any minor children will be kept with the adult visitor at all times. Any disruption of visitation will not be tolerated.
Minors 16 years of age and over may visit without a parent or guardian if a signed Parental Consent Form has been completed or if the minor is legally married to the inmate and can present a marriage license as proof of the relationship.
No food, drinks or personal items are permitted in the visitation room. Lockers are provided in the lobby to secure personal items before entering the visitation room.
All Visitation is subject to audio/video monitoring and/or recording.
