This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Bellamy Creek Correctional located at 1727 W Bluewater Hwy in Ionia, MI are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
The Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility is the newest state prison of the Michigan Department of Corrections facilities with a capacity of about 1,900 adult male inmates. The prison is located in Ionia and is a mixed custody prison that houses level I, II, and IV inmates. In addition, Bellamy Creek has a protective housing unit and an administrative segregation unit. The inmates are secured by razor wire fences, patrols and armed guard towers. Selected inmates can work jobs that support the facility in maintenance, food preparation and serving, the library and more.
This facility offers adult basic education courses and the ability for inmates to earn a GED. Vocational courses are available for horticulture and custodial maintenance. Psychiatrists, psychologists and various social workers are available for one on one and group counseling for inmates who have mental health issues. Substance abuse treatment, violence prevention courses, and programs based around changing behavioral patterns are also available to offenders.
Programming – Academic programs offer a range of educational opportunities including Adult Basic Education and General Education Development. Special education courses for prisoners with learning disabilities are also available. Vocational training is available in Custodial Maintenance Technology and Horticulture.
The prison also offers group counseling and religious services. For prisoners with mental health problems, psychiatrist, psychologists and social workers are available. An outpatient mental health team provides additional therapy. Referrals to outside medical facilities are made when necessary.
Other programs include Substance Abuse, Cage Your Rage, Violence Prevention Program, and a cognitive restructuring effort called Thinking for a Change.
Bellamy Creek is an In-Reach Facility for the Michigan Prisoner Re-Entry Effort (MPRI). These prisoners will be paroling to Kent, Allegan, Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham Counties.
Security – Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility's perimeter is surrounded by fences with razor-ribbon. It is also patrolled by armed staff and monitored by gun towers.

Visiting Hours
Monday, Thursday and Friday are 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Weekend visits are according to an odd/even schedule, based on the last digit of the prisoner's number.
If the number ends in an odd digit that prisoner may have visitation only on the odd dated weekend day.
