This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at Harrison Correctional located at 2727 E Beecher St in Adrian, MI are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

The Gus Harrison Correctional Facility is a multi-custody state prison facility that houses about 2360 adult male level I, secure level I, level II and level IV inmates operated by the Michigan Department of Corrections located in Adrian. Inmates can receive medical and dental treatment here and can participate in various work assignments, and vocational courses. In addition, inmates can receive substance abuse treatment, group counseling and for a variety of mental health issues. Inmates are secured by two razor-wire fences and two guard towers. Electronic detection systems and routine patrols by vehicles ensure no inmates escape.

Programming – Programming includes academic and vocational instruction, work assignments, general and law library services, psychological group counseling, substance-abuse treatment, horticulture and English as a second language. Inmates are provided on-site routine medical and dental care. Serious problems are treated at the department's Duane L. Waters Health care in Jackson. Emergencies are referred to a local hospital.

Security – The Gus Harrison facility protects its perimeter with double chain-link fences, razor-ribbon wire, electronic detection systems, a patrol vehicle and two gun towers.

Visiting Hours

Monday, Thursday and Friday are 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Weekend visits are according to an odd/even schedule, based on the last digit of the prisoner's number.
If the number ends in an odd digit that prisoner may have visitation only on the odd dated weekend day.
