MI DOC – Ojibway Correctional Facility (OCF) basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 906-787-2217

The inmates housed at Ojibway Correctional located at N 5705 Ojibway Rd in Marenisco, MI are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Ojibway Correctional Facility is a secure level I state prison facility that has a housing capacity of about 1,200 adult males inmates housed in one of five units. The facility consists of an administration building, a warehouse and store, and buildings for education, meals, training and housing of inmates. The five housing units can accommodate up to 1,180 prisoners. While incarcerated, inmates can earn a GED, take adult basic education courses, and learn various vocational skills. Offenders are secured by two fences with electronic devices and armed personnel ensuring no inmates escape

Programming – Ojibway provides Adult Basic Education, General Education Development completion, pre-release, vocational classes and various treatment regimens. Prisoners are provided with on-site routine medical and dental care. Serious problems are treated at the department's Duane L. Waters Health Care in Jackson. Emergencies can be referred to a local hospital.
Security – The perimeter includes two chain-link fences, monitored with electronic security devices and topped with razor-ribbon wire. The perimeter is patrolled by armed personnel.
