MI DOC – Saginaw Correctional Facility (SRF) basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 989-695-9880
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Saginaw Correctional located at 9625 Pierce Rd in Freeland, MI are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
The Saginaw Correctional Facility is a mixed custody state prison that houses about 1,500 level I, II and IV adult male Michigan Department of Correction's inmates. Inmates are separated and placed into custody level units, three of the buildings are level II, three are level IV and one is level I along with buildings for education, programs, administration, food service, health care and maintenance. The entire facility is surrounded by two fences with razor wire in between and on top, electronic detection systems, security cameras, two armed guard towers and a 24-hour armed patrol. Inmates are encouraged to take educational and vocational courses to improve their well being. Educational classes offered are adult basic education and the ability for inmates to earn their GED.
