The Middlesex County MA House of Correction is a medium-security detention center located at 269 Treble Cove Rd Billerica, MA which is operated locally by the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Middlesex County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Billerica Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Middlesex Jail & House of Correction is situated approximately 45 minutes north of downtown Boston in the town of Billerica, Massachusetts. The facility houses detainees awaiting trial and inmates serving sentences of up to 2 ½ years. Approximately 1,100 men in total are housed at the facility. Women awaiting trial or sentenced in Middlesex County are held by the Massachusetts Department of Correction.
During their period of incarceration, men being held at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction are encouraged to participate in programming designed to allow them to better themselves and prepare for re-entry. Programming opportunities include classes focused on education, addiction and anger management, among others.
The successful completion of educational and vocational programs have a proven ability to reduce the rate of recidivism among incarcerated participants. For that reason, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office offers a variety of programs designed to assist offenders with preparation for re-entry into society. These programs include – but are not limited to: preparation for high school equivalency exams, computer literacy classes, a ServSafe Certification course, culinary arts, OSHA 10 Certification and the custodial certification program.

Middlesex County MA House of Correction – Visitation
Please note that the facility will begin processing visitors 30 minutes before each session begins, and close 15 minutes prior to the start of visits. Visitors may only visit during one session per day.
VISITOR DRESS CODE
- NO person will be admitted to visit a detainee. wearing revealing, offensive or suggestive clothing.
- NO excessive jewelry.
- Clothing must be worn on upper body, bare tops are not allowed.
- Bare feet are not permitted.
- NO Halter tops, tank tops, tube tops, body T-shirts, seethrough tops, and bathing suits.
- Undergarments must be worn.
- Certain undergarments may not pass through the metal detector. (underwire bras that contain metal)
- Dresses, skirts and skirt slits will not exceed 3" above the knee.
- NO hats, bandannas, other headwear. Religious headwear will be allowed.
- NO overalls with metal clips.
- NO GREY sweat shirts.
- NO SHORTS…except for children.
