This facility is for adult inmates.

The Montague County TX Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 111 Grand St Montague, TX which is operated locally by the Montague County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Montague County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Montague Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Montague County Detention Center is a 101-bed facility designed as an indirect supervision style correctional facility. The Montague County Detention Center has 22 employees consisting of a Jail Administrator who oversees the Jail and Transport Division. The Jail Division consists of 2 shifts with a Sergeant, Corporal, and Detention Officers whose duties include implementing Jail policy while maintaining a safe and secure environment for both inmates and staff.

When writing a letter to an inmate incarcerated in the Montague County Jail, no newspaper clippings, magazines, books, clothing, hygiene items or tobacco products will be given to any inmate thru the mail.

COMMISSARY

No commissary money will be accepted for any inmate through Dispatch. The only money accepted through Dispatch is inmate bond money.

Commissary money can be added to an inmate's account by mail, online, by phone, or in person via the machine in the jail lobby.

Visiting Hours

  • MALES LAST NAME A-M–MONDAYS FROM 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM AND 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

  • MALES LAST NAME N-Z–FRIDAYS FROM 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM AND 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

  • FEMALES–WEDNESDAYS FROM 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM AND 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Each inmate is allowed either 2 twenty minute visits or 1 forty minute visit per week. If there are several people waiting to visit an inmate, there will only be twenty-minute visits allowed for that day.

Dress code rules for visitations are as follows:

  • No shorts above mid-thigh
  • No skirts/dresses shorter than 1 inch above the knee
  • No low cut tops/shirts/blouses
  • No V-neck blouses

No purses, cameras, cell phones, knives, guns, tobacco or alcohol

All visitors who are 17 years of age or older must have a picture ID card and be on the inmate's visitation list or you will not be allowed to visit.  Visitors who are younger than 17 do not have to be on an inmate's visitation list; however, they must be accompanied by an adult who is on the visitation list or they will not be allowed to visit.

If a person has been an inmate in the Montague County Jail, he/she is not allowed to visit with any inmate until after 45 days of being released from the Montague County Jail.

No items will be dropped off for any inmate unless authorized by the jail administrator prior to visitation.
