The Nassau County FL Detention Facility is a medium-security detention center located at 76212 Nicholas Cutinha Rd Yulee, FL which is operated locally by the Nassau County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Nassau County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Yulee Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

All arrested individuals are brought to the booking desk of the Nassau County Jail for processing. The individual’s property inventory, booking, medical screening, and cell assignment must be completed prior to being considered for release or visitation. Intake processing and identification clearance will be completed as soon as possible.

The NCSO utilizes certain county inmates who are in the county jail and are under sentence upon conviction for a crime to work on certain projects. Included in the work program are repairs of public roads, bridges, and other public work-related issues within the county. Additionally, these inmates may be utilized on other projects where the Sheriff or Board of County Commissioners could otherwise lawfully expend public funds in which; the Sheriff determines to be necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the county.

The Inmate Work crew shall not work over 10 hours per day.

Inmate Calls – Each housing area has a telephone which allows collect calls only (with the exception of calls to the public defender’s office.) All charges must be accepted by the person the inmate is calling. Depending on the type of phone service, some individuals contacted by an inmate may not be able to accept their calls. Inmates will not be permitted to receive incoming calls. If an incoming call of an emergency nature is received for an inmate, the phone number and name of the party calling will be obtained. After verification, the inmate will be permitted to return the call to the person reporting the emergency as soon as reasonably possible.

Telephone privileges will be provided between the hours of 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM, except during feed up, count, or unless disciplinary action has been taken against all inmates of the cell, such as riot, refusal to work, etc. Telephones may be turned off if cells, day rooms, showers and bunks are not kept neat and clean. Fraudulent calls will result in termination of privileges. Inmates who make obscene, threatening, or harassing telephone calls, or damage telephone equipment will lose their telephone privileges and may be criminally prosecuted. Disciplinary actions involving telephone restrictions shall not include the inmate’s right to call his/her attorney or bondsman. However, the number to be called shall be verified by an officer prior to the inmate making the call.

Commissary is available to inmates assigned to the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office Jail and Detention Center. A private contractor, Keefe Commissary, provides this service. If you wish to place funds on an inmates account so that they can have access to commissary you may do so one of three ways.

You may log onto inmatedeposits.com and place funds online.

Commissary is delivered once a week. Items available for purchase and their pre-taxed prices are listed on the Commissary Kiosk machines, which; are available to the inmates.

Photographs – After being incarcerated for one (1) month, inmates may receive up to three (3) photographs. No larger than 4×6, and may receive three (3) additional photos every six (6) months thereafter.

Inmates are required to have an approved picture permit prior to the delivery of a set of photographs. An inmate must request the permit by sending an inmate request to the Administrative Lieutenant. Upon approval, the Lieutenant will send a copy of the approval/denial to the reception desk and a copy back to the inmate.

Pictures containing any type of gang signs will not be accepted.
Sexually explicit photographs or illustrations of a sexual nature will not be accepted.
No polarized pictures will be accepted

It is the inmate’s responsibility to notify the sender of the picture policy and to notify the sender of the permit number. The permit number must be written on the outside of the envelope containing the pictures. Any letter or correspondence found within the envelope will not be forwarded to the inmate.

Rejected material will be considered contraband and/or placed in the inmate’s property.

Nassau County FL Jail – Visitation

Visitation with inmates incarcerated at the Nassau County Detention Facility is conducted utilizing a video visitation system. The variance from this procedure is an approved exceptional visit as indicated below.

Video Visitation hours are from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm seven days a week.

Exceptional visits will be conducted at the discretion of the Facility Director or his designee.

Two thirty (30) minute visits will be allowed per designated day. Children of any age are allowed to participate in video visitation when accompanied by an adult. Children 10 years of age and under can be approved for an exceptional visit when requested by the inmate, approved by the Facility Director or his / her designee, and while accompanied by an adult.

Inmates are allowed to have visitation with friends and family members that have been identified on the inmate’s visitation list. Only visitors listed by the inmate on his or her visitation list will be allowed to visit. Visitation will be denied when there is a reason to believe that such visitation would jeopardize the safety and security of the facility. Visitation will also be denied upon identifying that the visitor is a victim of a violent crime involving the inmate, or if there is an injunction, other legal prohibitions, or a judge’s order for no contact between the visitor and the inmate.

The only items visitor(s) may possess are car keys and proper identification (ID). Acceptable forms of proper ID are a valid picture ID issued by a federal, state or local government agency. All visitors are subject to search upon entering or leaving the facility. Visitors under the influence of intoxicants or exhibiting unruly behavior will not be allowed to remain in the facility or permitted to visit and may be prohibited from entering the facility in the future.

All visitors must be appropriately attired. Unacceptable clothing includes, but is not limited to, transparent clothing, tight clothing without proper undergarments, headwear, shorts, skirts, split skirts above mid-thigh, clothing that reveals the buttocks, breasts, back, or stomach. All of the above will be deemed inappropriate at the discretion of the Public Reception Official. Inmates and/or visitors are not allowed to bring food or drink to the visitation.

Behavior of inmates and/or visitors shall be carefully regulated. Loud speech, boisterousness, and obscene behavior or language will not be tolerated.

When both parents of a minor, both spouses, or multiple siblings are incarcerated at the same time, an “Exceptional Visitation Form” may be filled out requesting special visitation where by family members may visit related inmates individually on the same day. Only the Facility Director or his/her designee can approve exceptional visitation.

Introduction of Contraband into a Detention Facility is a violation of Florida State Statute 951.22(1), a third-degree felony. Violators will be prosecuted.
