NCDPS – Tabor Correctional Institution basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 910-653-6413

This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at Tabor CI located at 4600 Swamp Fox Hwy W in Tabor City, NC are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Tabor Correctional Institution is a single cell facility which houses both close, medium and minimum custody inmates located in West Tabor City North Carolina, part of Columbus County. The original portion of the prison is a 1,000 cell close custody facility. Later additions include a 504-bed medium custody unit and a 252-bed minimum-custody unit. The facility employs custody, food service, medical, dental, administration, programs, maintenance, and psychological staff.

This facility is relatively new and was opened in 2008. Inmates are provided food and given basic medical, dental, and mental health services. Inmates at Tabor Correctional Institution can receive substance abuse treatment and obtain a GED while incarcerated.
