This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Tecumseh State Correctional located at 2725 Hwy 50 in Tecumseh, NE are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Programs available include ABE/GED classes, college correspondence courses, Transformation Project for inmates in segregation, Alcoholics Anonymous, self-betterment clubs, volunteer activities, release programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, and Vocational Education Programming. Work programs include traditional facility work programs, Health Porters, and Cornhusker State Industries (CSI) operations (Laundry and Woodshop).
TSCI has a ten-bed skilled nursing facility, clinic exam rooms, on-site x-ray, medical laboratory, optometry, and dental. Behavioral health services include psychiatric services, crisis intervention, and residential and non-residential substance abuse treatment.

The facility attends to the emotional and spiritual needs of the inmates through the religious programs and services. Volunteers are a vital part of our restorative programming. The facility welcomes citizens that have an interest in working with inmates as volunteers. Through programming, the facility is also able to reduce inmate idleness.

The Challenge Program |
The Challenge Program (TCP) (formerly known as Close Management Units) is Mission Specific Housing that provides a controlled a highly structured alternative to restrictive housing for individuals who have demonstrated an institutional history of violent and/or Security Threat Group (STG) behavior. TCP is incentive-based and requires participants to engage in non-clinical programming and meet behavior expectations to progress through each phase. |

Transformation Project |
The Transformation Project is a prisoner transition and reentry program aimed at promoting positive inmate behavior during incarceration and preparing participants for transition back into the community. Self-study modules are available for inmates in longer-term restrictive housing. |

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan® or WRAP®, is a self-designed prevention and wellness process that anyone can use to get well, stay well and make their life the way they want it to be. WRAP®, which is currently being used in Restrictive Housing, addresses a number of physical, mental health and life issues. |

NDCS operates its own school district with a high school. Students of all ages may attend high school classes. Individuals under 18 who have not graduated from high school are required to be in school. Students can earn a high school diploma. |

Alpha promotes daily living skills for offenders and encourages character development. All classes are biblically based and open to anyone, regardless of religious affiliation. The program includes lessons on addiction prevention, understanding marriage, understanding parenthood and managing finances. |

Discharge Planning |
Approximately four to five months prior to discharge, reentry specialists work with individuals to ensure a reentry plan is completed. Visiting Procedures and Visiting Procedures Revisions
Tecumseh State Correctional Institution Visiting Procedures
- Only state-issued clothing will be allowed to be worn by inmates in visiting
- Seating is limited to 165 people total; visitors/inmates beyond the 165 seating total will not be permitted
- Processing will begin 15 minutes prior to the session start time
- Processing will end 30 minutes after the beginning of the session
EFFECTIVE APRIL 3, 2017, THE FOLLOWING VISITING SCHEDULE IS IMPLEMENTED:
** CUTOFF TIME WILL BE 1 HOUR AFTER THE START OF THE VISITING SESSION.
The charts above indicate the visiting schedule for all statuses of inmates at TSCI, with the exception of Housing Unit 2B, effective April 3, 2017.
NOTE: MAXIMUM CAPACITY FOR THE VISITING ROOM IS 165.
HOUSING UNIT 2B VISITING:
- Housing Unit 2C inmates will be allowed Face to Face; No Contact Visits only.
- Inmates must fill out a Special Visit form at least 72 hours (three days) in advance and give to the unit manager for review.
