The inmates housed at NM DOC – Central Level II (CNMCF) located at 1525 Morris Rd
in Los Lunas, NM are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

Central New Mexico Correctional Facility was originally built in 1980 as a 480 bed medium custody facility. Today Central New Mexico Correctional Facility has become a complex of Level I, Level II and Main Facility. Central New Mexico Correctional Facility has multiple missions that include: Reception and Diagnostic Center, Mental Health Treatment Center (MHTC), Long Term Care Unit and Geriatric Unit.
