NYSDOC – Adirondack Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 518-891-1343

This facility is for adult inmates.

The inmates housed at Adirondack Correctional Facility located at 196 Ray Brook Rd in Ray Brook, NY are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.

The Adirondack Correctional Facility is a medium-security prison in Ray Brook, New York in the Adirondack Mountains between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid; The newly improved facilities allowed a substantial increase in the prison population, which led to the erection of the first security fence around the perimeter of the complex.

In 1981, Camp Adirondack was designated a medium-security facility and renamed the Adirondack Correctional Facility. As of 2010 Adirondack had a working capacity of 566.

This prison can house up to 700 inmates and employs over 310 people. Offenders can receive substance abuse and alcohol abuse treatment during their incarceration.

Adirondack CF offers inmates vocational training in custodial maintenance, building maintenance, and carpentry. The facility also operates a waste management program that recycles and composts old food to reduce the waste created at the prison and ultimately save money. Inmates can also participate in an alternative to violence program that teaches them to use communication and critical thinking as well as anger management techniques.
