NYSDOC – Lincoln Correctional Facility basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 212-860-9400
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Lincoln Correctional Facility located at 31-33 W 10th St in New York, NY are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Lincoln Correctional Facility is a minimum-security men's prison located at 31–33 West 110th Street in Manhattan, facing the north side of Central Park. Lincoln CF is used primarily as a work-release center for drug offenders; however, around 5% of about 275 inmates it houses are white-collar criminals.
History – Before the prison opened in 1976, the building had been built in 1914 as a branch of the Young Women's Hebrew Association (YWHA) and used for housing recently immigrated Jewish women in need of assistance. In 1942 it was sold to the U.S. Army and briefly used as a rest-and-relaxation center for local soldiers during World War II, after which it was occupied by the experimental New Lincoln School, and the Northside Center for Child Development, which conducted research in psychology.
