This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Wyoming Correctional Facility located at 3203 Dunbar Rd
in Attica, NY are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Wyoming Correctional Facility is a medium security state men's prison in Attica, Wyoming County, New York. The prison is located adjacent to the well-known maximum-security Attica Correctional Facility.
The current capacity of this prison is approximately 1,700 inmates. Offenders who do not have a high school diploma or GED will be required to take courses towards the goal of earning a GED. Those inmates who already have a GED can take college-level courses and earn credits through the Consortium of the Niagara Frontier.
Wyoming Correctional Facility offers inmates vocational training in computers, electrical, building/custodial maintenance, flooring, HVAC, upholstery, small engine repair, horticulture, and welding. Inmates who are veterans can participate in the Incarcerated Veterans Program which offers guidance and counseling. Offenders can also receive alcohol and substance abuse treatment at this facility.
