OK DOC – Jackie Brannon Correctional Center (JBCC) basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 918-421-3339
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Jackie Brannon Correctional located at 900 N West St in McAlester, OK are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Jackie Brannon Correctional Center (JBCC), a minimum-security state prison for men, is located on 1,506 acres in northwest McAlester, OK operated by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. The facility has three units that house over 700 male inmates, the majority of inmates of which are non-violent offenders. Eligible prisoners also have access to a six-month substance abuse treatment program.
JBCC opened in 1927 as a trusty unit of Oklahoma State Penitentiary nearby. It did not become a standalone institution until 1985. Agri-Services has a meat processing center, a dairy and milk processing center, an egg distribution center, a cow/calf operation, and a beef cattle operation at the facility. Inmate labor is utilized in these Agri-Services operations, the dairy operation producing 650,000 gallons of milk each year that is distributed to prisons throughout the state.
The Substance Abuse Treatment program is an intensive cognitive treatment program for offenders who have a documented history of substance abuse problems. The program is six months in duration, with sessions running five days a week, five hours a day. Each six-month cycle consists of a maximum of forty participants. The program has two cycles per year. During each cycle, participants are exposed to individual and group counseling sessions covering behavioral modification, effects of chemical abuse, goal setting, and relapse prevention.
