OK DOC – Kate Barnard Community Corrections Center (KBCCC) basic information to help guide you through what you can do for your inmate while they are incarcerated. The facility's direct contact number: 405-425-2900
This facility is for adult inmates.
The inmates housed at Barnard Community Corrections located at 3300 MLK Ave in Oklahoma City, OK are placed according to their custody level (determined by a number of factors including the past criminal history and the length of their sentence). There are ample educational and vocational training programs for all inmates, especially ones that show a willingness to learn new things that will prepare them for a better life when they are released. The mission is to promote and prepare the offender to leave in better shape than when they arrived, giving them the best chance to never come back and thus lower the state's recidivism rate.
Kate Barnard Correctional Center (KBCC) is a state-operated minimum security prison located rehabilitating female inmates in Oklahoma City, OK for the Department of Corrections. KBCC opened in June 1977, (previously known as the Kate Barnard Community Treatment Center) with a capacity of 96 designed to house first-time incarcerated non-violent male inmates serving a sentence of 5 years or less. The facility was a former motel located near the intersection of Highway 74 and Interstate 44 in Oklahoma City.
In 1992, the facility was converted to a female facility with a capacity of 162. In 2012, due to major infrastructure issues, the inmates were relocated to the Hillside Community Corrections Center (HCCC). KBCC transitioned from a female community corrections center, to a female minimum-security facility with a 250 head capacity.
Over a quarter of the inmates here are incarcerated for drug-related crimes, which is why the reentry program at this prison emphasizes substance abuse treatment. The co-occurring disorder group counseling program addresses inmates with a substance abuse problem that are linked to mental health issues. An additional program offered to inmates is 'Cage Your Rage', which helps inmates with anger problems learn to better manage their aggression and alternatives to anger and violence.
