This facility is for adult inmates.

The Okeechobee County Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 504 NW 4th St
PO Drawer 1397 Okeechobee, FL which is operated locally by the Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Okeechobee County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Okeechobee Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Corrections Division consists of a wide variety of services and components that provide basic care and custody for every person arrested and held in the jail.

The facility is staffed by both sworn and non-sworn members. The facility consists of four housing units of various custody levels and capacities, 2 negative pressure rooms with a total bed capacity of 232. The Corrections Division is composed of 75 professionals.

The Jail Administrator is responsible for the overall operation of the facility including all administrative and security operations. The Detention Deputy Captain is responsible for the daily operations of the Jail, and supervises four shifts, with a total security complement of 58 sworn members, to include Detention Deputies, Transportation Deputies and Court House Security.

Care Package:
Inmates are not allowed to receive any type of care package with the exception of within the first seven days of incarceration, the family may bring in up to 4 each, Tee Shirts, Underwear, Socks, Sport Bra (No Wire) and must be new and white only. Any other item may be purchased from the commissary.

Medical:
Healthcare is provided to inmates by contracting with a local physician. The Medical Department is staffed by 2 full time nurses. No inmate will be denied medical care because of insufficient funds.

Programs:
Various programs are available to inmates incarcerated in the Detention Division. These include programs such as, Alcohol and Drug counseling, and various religious programs both in English and Spanish. Work release and trustee programs are also available.
