This facility is for adult inmates.

The Palm Beach County Main Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 3228 Gun Club Rd West Palm Beach, FL which is operated locally by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Palm Beach County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the West Palm Beach Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The the Main Detention Center is the largest of the four Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office correctional facilities, and has the greatest security capabilities, used to house high-risk inmates, federal inmates, inmates who are in need of special medical and/or mental health care and also those inmates who cannot function at any other facility. The average inmate population for the Main Detention Center is 1769 inmates.

The South Tower, one of three adjacent buildings, is a twelve-story high-rise linear structure with a bed capacity of 838, the six stories East and West Towers flank the South Tower to complete the Main Detention Center. The total bed capacity of this correctional facility is 2,156. This number includes infirmary and special management bedding.

The South Tower can house 1,285 inmates, the East Tower 418, and the West Tower 404. The inmate population is primarily comprised of pre-trial, un-sentenced adult males. Also housed in the Main Detention Center are adult female pre-first appearance inmates, adult female inmates who require special medical and/or mental health care. Female juveniles are also housed in this facility. The twelfth floor of the South Tower is used exclusively for housing male juveniles.

All visitors must register to visit by following the instructions below. Visitors wishing to visit an inmate housed at the Main Detention Center or at the West Detention Center will have the choice of visiting at the West County Video Visitation Center in Belle Glade or the Central Video Visitation Center located at 9620 Weisman Way,  just west of the South Florida Fairgrounds.

Inmate Visitation Rules
You must be checked in at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the visit or you will be considered late. No late entry will be permitted.  
All visits are monitored and subject to recording.
All visitation rules apply to both locations. 
A maximum of three (3) visitors per visit, children count toward the total number of visitors.
All adult visitors MUST present a Government-issued VALID State ID or Driver’s License before each visit.
Visitors who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be admitted to visit.
Visitors can only bring keys and a wallet into the Visitation Center.
NO Cell Phones or Smart Watches are allowed in the building.
Visitors with small children will be permitted to bring in one baby bottle, and one blanket per child.
Lockers will NOT be provided.
Visitors MUST be checked in 15 minutes before their scheduled visit.
Visitors arriving late will be denied entry.
All Minors MUST have a visitor’s ID number and MUST be added on the visit.
An original birth certificate and legal guardianship paperwork is required before a minor visits.
No school age children will be allowed to visit during school hours. This includes home schooled students.
 
Inmate Visitation Dress Code
Visitors MUST adhere to FULL dress code policy listed below.
ANY VIOLATION OF THE VISITATION RULES CAN LEAD TO YOUR VISITATION PRIVILEGES BEING CANCELLATION OR SUSPENDED.
Visitors wearing coats, jackets, sweaters, etc., must be wearing a shirt that is proper under these items.
Visits must be scheduled 1 to 7 days in advance. NO same-day visits may be scheduled.
Children will never be left unattended FOR ANY REASON on Visitation property. Unsupervised children will cause visit to be cancelled
No Smoking, gum, food or drinks are allowed on the visitation property.
If a visitor exits the Visitation area, they will not be allowed to gain reentry without prior approval by staff.
Loud talking, excessive emotionalism, or any type of disruptive behavior will not be permitted.
Please stay seated during your entire visit. When you are leaving, hang the phone up first then stand up.
If you are a “No Show” to three scheduled visits, you will be restricted from visiting for two (2) visiting weeks.
