The Phillips County KS Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 301 State St Phillipsburg, KS which is operated locally by the Phillips County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Phillips County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Phillipsburg Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

What is the Purpose of an Inmate Account?

When a person is arrested, any funds they have are deposited into an electronic account maintained by the Sheriff’s Office. The inmate then has the ability to use those funds to make phone calls, purchase commissary, or pay their bond.

Since inmates are not allowed to possess cash money while in custody in the Phillips County Jail, the jail maintains a “bank account” for the inmate to purchase products and services from their commissary (canteen) store.

Commissary funds allow inmates to purchase items such as personal hygiene products, snacks and stationery supplies from the jail store.

Inmates can use money from their account to purchase phone time credits in order to make outside phone calls to friends and family members.

Anybody can contribute to an inmate's books or commissary fund as long as there isn't a no-contact order in place.

Phillips County Jail and others often use a private company to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing this.

Important Tips

Inmates are not allowed to purchase items for other inmates or leave funds to other inmates. Inmates are limited to on spending $50.00 a week, please monitor how much inmates are spending on themselves.

Put your financial needs first and the inmate's second. Don't forget, the inmate is getting three free meals a day. The food may not be of the highest quality, but the commissary food is generally much less nutritious. Phillips County does provide basic needs for inmates

Phillips County Jail – Visitation

Visiting hours are every Tuesday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.                      

Visiting time will be limited to 15-20 minutes per inmate.

No visitors under the age of 18 years-of-age, any visitors under 18 must be with a parent or guardian and have prior approval from the Sheriff.

All visitors will check in before visitation, and will check out after visitation. Anyone that does not check in and out will not be allowed back at visitation the following week.

Visitors will conduct their selves respectfully and will treat jail personnel with courtesy, yelling, screaming or arguing while visiting anyone in the jail will not be tolerated.

If a visitor to the Jail violates any rule or policy they will not be allowed to return!

If a holiday falls on visitation day, visits will be cancelled.

There will be no physical contact between an inmate and a visitor. If contact is made between an inmate and visitor, the visitor will be banned from ANY further visits.
