The Potter County TX Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 13100 NE 29th St Amarillo, TX which is operated locally by the Potter County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Potter County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Amarillo Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Potter County Detention Center was completed in November 1995. It is a 125,000 square foot facility that consists of 576 beds in the General Population portion, and also includes a 27 bed Infirmary and two Violent Cells. The Center houses inmates awaiting trial, inmates sentenced to County Corrections, and those sentenced and awaiting entrance into the State and Federal Corrections Institutions.
