The Anthony P. Travisono Intake Service Center (ISC) is a maximum security facility which serves as Rhode Island's jail for male offenders. Rhode Island is one of six states that have unified systems, incorporating the jail and state prison into one Department. The facility is constructed with 16-module housing units, two of which serve as disciplinary – administrative segregation units. The south wing of the facility, constructed in 1982, houses the infirmary, eight housing modules, and committing area. The north wing, constructed in 1992, houses the kitchen, dining room, visiting room, eight housing modules, and an administration area.
Inmates housed at the ISC include pretrial detainees and newly sentenced inmates who are awaiting classification to other facilities, pretrial protective custody, and sentenced protective custody.. The facility processes approximately 15,500 commitments in 2011 and approximately 1,292 commitments per month. An average of approximately 120 inmates are sent to court daily, and approximately 50 inmates per week are processed and transferred to other facilities within the Department of Corrections. The length of time an inmate remains housed in Awaiting Trial status at the ISC is approximately 23 days; this translates into a constant turnover of the inmate population.

Anthony P. Travisono Intake Service Center is located in Cranston Rhode Island. It is a maximum security prison that is responsible for the reception, diagnostic and classification of all male offenders in the state. The facility is comprised of sixteenmodular housing units. Two of the housing units are used for disciplinary/administrative segregation. Anthony P. Travisono Intake and Service Center contains it’s own infirmary located in the South wing, furthermore, the South wing also contains eight housing modules. The North wing contains the dining hall, the kitchen, visitation areas, and eight additional housing units.
Inmates are usually housed at the Anthony P. Travisono Intake Service Center for 24 days or less. Many of the offenders are awaiting trial, or have been sentenced and are awaiting classification and custody determination which will determine their permanent facility. On average the facility processes 1,300 offenders each month and transfers them to their new facility. Because of the constant turn over of inmates, programs at this facility are limited to adult basic education and GED courses for inmate under 21. Religious services and substance abuse assessments are also provided at this facility.

No cellphones, you will be searched before visiting. NO personal belongings. Persons under probation, parole, or other community corrections supervision must obtain the permission of both their individual supervising officer and the superintendent prior to a visit. Such visitation is not normally approved.
If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is a family member of the inmate, they must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian to include a member of the inmate's extended family. If the visitor is under the age of 18 and is not a family member of the inmate, the minor visitor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
