The Richland County MT Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 110 2nd Ave NW Sidney, MT which is operated locally by the Richland County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Richland County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Sidney Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Richland County Jail holds up to 17 inmates. The jail staff is trained by attending the Correction/Detention Officer Basic Course at Montana Law Enforcement Academy in Helena. In addition to being responsible for the custody and care of inmates, they cook the meals and take care of custodial duties at the Law Enforcement Center.
