The Riverside County CA – Cois M. Byrd Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 30755-B Auld Rd Murrieta, CA which is operated locally by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Riverside County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Murrieta Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
The Byrd Detention Center is located adjacent to the French Valley Airport with one runway for mostly small aircraft. The Detention Center provides short-term and long-term (depending on the type of sentencing) incarceration services for the county, jailing subjects arrested and charged with various types of crimes pending their court disposition as well as those convicted of crimes and sentenced. Services also include transportation of prisoners if necessary related to court appearances, and transferring prisoners between jurisdictions such as other counties, states, or the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Riverside County CA – Cois M Byrd Detention Center – Visitation
• Visiting at the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center is by appointment only. Visitors must call the day before the requested visiting day to set an appointment. Each housing unit has specific days for visiting with appointments available in the morning, afternoon and evening.
• Inmates may have two visits on a given visiting day. However, the visits are limited to one in the morning and one in the evening.
• Visiting appointments are scheduled daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm by calling (951) 696-3470.
• A maximum of two adults and two children are allowed per visit.
• Visitor check in begins 30 minutes before the visit start time and ends 10 minutes before the visit start time. Please refer to the schedule below to determine visitation days and times.
• Please note, appointments must be made by phone for administratively segregated inmates and the housing location of any inmate may change periodically. Therefore, it is recommended that you call the jail to confirm their housing location and determine their current visiting schedule.
