The Rockwall County Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 972 TL Townsend Dr Rockwall, TX which is operated locally by the Rockwall County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Rockwall County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Rockwall Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Rockwall County Jail – Visitation
A visitor will be allowed to visit once every 7 days. Visits will not exceed 20 minutes in duration, no more than 2-20 min visits will be allowed per visitation day.
Inmates will be limited to two (2) visits per visitation day. No more than 3 visitors will be allowed to visit an inmate at one time. This means one adult and two children for a 20-minute visit, or two adults and one child for a 20-minute visit. At no time will any child be left unattended. Visitation is based on a first-come first-served basis. An inmate is not required to have a visitor list.
All visitors will be fully clothed in a reasonable and modest manner, which will not excite, distract, or upset an inmate. Clothing that is too tight, transparent, or revealing is prohibited. Other clothing that is prohibited includes but is not limited to: Tube Tops, Halter Tops, Strapless Tops, Backless Tops, Spaghetti Straps, Sleeveless Tops, Shirts/Blouses with an open midriff. Everything of the upper torso below the collar bone must be covered. Pants, shorts, and skirts must extend to the upper knee when in a standing position and must be worn at or above the waist. Clothing that is considered obscene, profane, or offensive is prohibited. Visitors will also act and behave in an orderly manner. Anyone who does not act in accordance with this will be dismissed from visitation and depending on the severity of his or her actions may not be allowed to visit again.
Personal Items – All visitors must leave any personal items such as cell phones, purses, packages, books, food, drinks, etc in their vehicles. Any person found bringing unauthorized items into the Detention Center will be permanently deprived visitation in this facility and could be subject to criminal charges. (The shift supervisor will ensure this procedure is followed)
Professional Visitor Exceptions – Attorneys, ministers, social workers, probation officers, investigators, bail bondsman, and parole officers are the only visitors allowed to have visits outside of normal visitation hours as long as it does not interfere with daily operations of the facility, i.e. (feeding, medication, etc.). They will be required to leave identification showing their job title and fill out the visitor's information sheet for each inmate visited.
Visit Denial – Any person can be denied a visit if there is reason to believe that the visit could be a hazard to the security and welfare of the facility. An ex-inmate who has been confined in the Rockwall County Detention Center in the last 30 days will not be permitted to visit.
Weapons & Contraband – All visitors are subject for weapons and contraband check. (With Probable Cause)
Emergency Visits – In cases where an emergency visit is necessary, the shift supervisor will make the Jail Administrator or Lieutenant aware of the situation. It will be decided by the Jail Administrator or Lieutenant as to what type of visit will be allowed either by non-contact or contact.
Special Visits – Any special visit will need the approval of the Jail Administrator or designee.
