The Saline County IL Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 1 N Main St Harrisburg, IL which is operated locally by the Saline County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Saline County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Harrisburg Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Detention Center is a 32,000 square foot, 110-bed complex. It opened in March of 1994 after the Saline County Board signed a lease agreement with the Saline County Building Commission to build a new jail on August 29th, 1991. The facility is staffed by 20 full-time employees that are certified by the State of Illinois and are responsible for the jail facility and inmate processing. The Jail operation is subject to approval and inspection by the Illinois Department of Corrections and the United States Bureau of Prisons.
