The San Francisco County Jail # 3 – CURRENTLY CLOSED is a medium-security detention center located at Hall of Justice

6th Floor San Francisco, CA which is operated locally by the San Francisco County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. San Francisco County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the San Francisco Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

San Francisco County Jail # 3 – Visitation

San Francisco County Jail #3 is a traditional liner jail facility located on the 6th floor of the Hall of Justice. The rated capacity for this jail is 426 inmates and it can house both sentenced and pre-sentenced inmates. Deputy Sheriffs monitor inmate conduct and patrol in cells located on each side of a central corridor or “mainline”. This jail offers inmate programs such as parenting, independent study, alcoholics anonymous and narcotics anonymous. Parenting skills classes and inmate-child visitation is also offered to mend and heal broken family relationships.

County Jail #3 also serves as our records facility. It is at this jail that the department receives sentencing information from the criminal courts, state and federal law enforcement agencies, and outside jurisdictions. This information is inputted into the department’s computerized jail management system to determine proper jail sentencing terms and to calculate jail sentences. County Jail #3 has its own infirmary and provides medical care to the inmate population 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
