The Sangamon Juvenile Detention Services. is a medium to low-security detention center located at 2201 South Dirksen Parkway Springfield, IL that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.
Detention Services is the designated reception facility for minors in custody pending court action. Detention is a locked and physically restrictive setting with staff supervision 24 hours each day. Minors in detention are provided clothing, food, shelter, and care as should be provided by parents. School, physical and social recreation, and behavioral programming are provided year round for youth in residence.
