All visitors must be dressed appropriately in order to visit an inmate. Inappropriate attire consists of short-shorts, mini-skirts, tube-tops, spaghetti straps, or any other revealing attire. Visitors not meeting the dress code will be denied visitation.
Visitation Rules
- Inmates may have up to four (4) visitors over the age of eighteen (18) on their visitation list. Inmates will be allowed to make one (1) name change to their visitation list. This means they can write a request to the visitation officer and ask that one (1) visitor be removed and one (1) visitor be added. The visitation officer will review the inmate’s visitation list to see if any changes have already been made. The one-time change will be annotated on the inmate’s visitation list. Any further changes must be approved by a lieutenant or above.
- Due to the growing inmate population, inmates will be allowed one (1), two (2) hour visitation periods per week during their scheduled visitation time. All four (4) approved visitors must visit together during the inmate’s scheduled visitation. There will be no switching out visitors (i.e. two visitors sit in the lobby and switch out with the other two halfway through the visitation). Visitors may only leave the visitation booth to go to the bathroom and return back to the visitation booth. If the visitor leaves to sit in the lobby or goes outside, their visitation will be terminated. Inmates will not be allowed to have multiple visitation periods in one day.
- Visitors under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be denied visitation and will be removed from the inmate’s visitation list.
- Introduction of contraband into a correctional facility is a 3rd degree Felony.
- All visitors will be subject to search
Special Visits
Inmates may request in writing and in advance a special one time visit with up to two people who have to travel seventy-five (75) miles or more to visit. These visitors do not have to be listed as one of the four approved visitors on the inmate’s visitation list. Visits of this nature are at the discretion of the Jail Administrator. Verification of the visitor’s home or record shall be determined prior to visitation. If approved, this will be a one time visit and will be annotated on the inmate’s visitation card by the visitation officer. Persons requesting visits of this nature must be approved in advance of the visit. Visitors “popping in” to visit without prior approval will be denied visitation. There will be no special visits on holidays.
