The Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility is a medium to low-security detention center located at 11200 Ave 368 Visalia, CA that is operated locally by the Juvenile Justice Department and holds youths awaiting the determination of punishment for the crimes which they are accused. Most of the adolescents are here for less than two years.
The Juvenile Detention Facility is operated 24 hours per day, 365 days a year by the Tulare County Probation Department as a secure detention facility for minors alleged to have committed a law violation while awaiting court action. In addition to holding minors pending court action, the Juvenile Detention Facility provides secure confinement for minors pending delivery to the Department of Juvenile Justice, other juvenile and adult justice jurisdictions, foster and group home placements and court ordered commitments.
While in custody, minors attend school daily, and are provided with basic necessities of life including food, clothing, access to recreational activities as well as mental health, medical, and dental care. Minors have access to faith based services, individual and group activities, including gender specific programming.
