The Union County GA Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 378 Beasley St Blairsville, GA which is operated locally by the Union County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Union County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Blairsville Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

The Union County Jail is primarily a pretrial holding facility where persons accused of crimes, who cannot bond out, await their court dates. The Jail accepts people that have been arrested by Union County Deputies, Blairsville Police Department, and any other state or federal agencies. The Union County Jail also houses persons sentenced to serve up to 12 months and persons sentenced for more serious crimes until space is available at State Facilities.

There are 54 beds for general housing and 3 beds for observation. There are 3 meals served per day which include 2 hot meals and 1 cold meal. There is full-time medical assistance available, which includes an LPN, that is on-site 7 days a week. A doctor is available through Tele-Med 24/7.

The primary concern of the Jail Officers is the safety and security of all of the inmates, visitors, and staff, while performing all the duties necessary to keep the Jail running efficiently.

The Union County Jail prides itself on the dedication, integrity, and honesty of these Officers. The Jail Officers work very hard and are willingly go beyond the requirements for their normal duties to perform their responsibilities. It is because of the quality and dedication of these officers that we believe the Union County Jail is one of the best in the State of Georgia.

The Jail also has a program through Mountain Education for inmate ages 17-21 to earn their high school diploma. The program is computer-based and can be continued when the inmate is released from custody.

Inmate Work Detail – Sheriff Mason along with Commissioner Paris recently established a county work detail. This work detail consists of up to 5 low-risk inmates that are closely supervised by a certified jail officer. They are taken to county properties to perform general maintenance such as; cut grass, trim trees and bushes, pick up trash, and many other tasks. Using this inmate work detail, it has saved taxpayer dollars.

Inmate Accounts – The Union County Jail sets up individual accounts for each inmate that family members and friends can deposit money orders in. Cash will not be accepted. Money orders can be brought or dropped off during visitation hours or brought to the bonding window at any time. The inmates can buy snacks, stationery items, some clothing, and hygiene items. These items are also available for family and friends to purchase directly online or money can be deposited on the inmate's account at https://deposits.jailatm.com A credit card or debit card is required.

Phone services are provided by Combined Public Communications. Funds may be deposited on the inmates phone account by using a kiosk that is located in the visitation lobby. Union County GA Jail – Visitation

Visitation hours are as follows:

Tuesdays and Saturdays.  Holiday visitation will be determined by the Chief Jailer or designee.

• Females: 12:00pm to 1:00pm and 6:30pm to 7:30pm
• Males: 1:00pm to 3:00pm and 7:30pm to 9:30pm

THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO ALL VISITORS:

• Each inmate will be allowed a total of three (3) visitors on their visitation day.
• Each visit will be limited to THIRTY MINUTES (30) per visitation day. The Chief Jailer, Lieutenant, or the Staff Sgt must approve any extended visits.
• Children or infants that must be held will not count toward total visitors.  It will be the responsibility of parents to control their children. Children who are causing a disturbance for other visitors will be removed and visit terminated.
• A parent or legal guardian (must show proof of guardianship) must accompany visitors under the age of seventeen (17), NO EXCEPTIONS.
• No cell phones, cameras, packages, or weapons including knives are allowed in the visitation area.
• All visitors MUST BE properly attired before being allowed to enter the visitation area. Male visitors will be dressed in shirt, pants/shorts, and shoes.  Female visitors will be dressed in conservative clothing and shoes. Halter tops, bathing suit tops, short shorts or short skirts, WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. Shirts must touch the belt line; tank tops must be covered with another shirt with sleeves.
• Money orders may be left for the inmate at the visitation desk. They should be made out to the inmate and have the buyer's name clearly written on the money order. NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED. A receipt will be given and money will be deposited directly into the inmate’s account.
• Intoxicated or impaired visitors will not be allowed to visit and may be subject to arrest.
• Smoking is not allowed in the jail lobby or visitation booths.
• Visitation requests may be denied at any time due to volume, disturbances, weather, or time limitations.
• In case of an emergency within the facility, visitors will be asked to immediately terminate their visit and leave the building.  Any visitor that fails to comply with ban order from jail staff is subject to having visitation privileges permanently revoked.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION OF THE VISIT AND THE TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT BARRING OF THE VISITOR FROM FURTHER VISITATION
