The Walter J. Leinberger Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 2420 East Gibson Road Woodland, CA which is operated locally by the Yolo County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Yolo County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Woodland Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

Leinberger Center is primarily a working facility designed to house sentenced inmates who work at various city, county, and state agencies to reduce their jail time.

Leinberger Center has the resources and can house overflow inmates from the Monroe Detention Center. These potential inmates are carefully screened and must meet strict policy and procedure criteria when transferred to the Leinberger Detention Center. The safety of the public is paramount when considering inmates for such transfer.
