The Jasper County SC Detention Center is a medium-security detention center located at 12008 N Jacob Smart Blvd
Ridgeland, SC which is operated locally by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Jasper County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Ridgeland Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.
Money
Money can be sent in via the U.S. Mail, transferred by website AccessCorrections.com (inmate number will be required, call 843-717-3300 for more information), or personally via the Lobby (money order only). The lobby is open between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, except Saturday and Sunday (Money Order's will be accepted on visitation days during visitation hours only) Only cashier's checks or U.S. Postal Money Orders will be accepted for deposit by U.S. Mail.
Inmates are encouraged to write to anyone, provided their letters do not in any way violate U.S. Postal Service regulations. Inmates may receive unlimited mail. All incoming correspondence except privileged mail will be opened and inspected for contraband before delivery. All mail should be addressed as follows:

All mail must have a full return address. No oversized post or greeting cards. Perfumed letters will not be accepted. An inmate is only allowed to have a total of six photos. Books and magazines can be mailed in but ONLY directly from the publisher. NO packages are to be sent without prior approval, or they will not be accepted by the facility.
Food Service
Inmates are provided three nutritious meals per day. Requests for medical or religious diets will be provided as needed upon verification. Inmates can have anyone order commissary through jaspercountypackages.com (inmate number will be required, call 1-800-546-6283 for more information).
Medical Services
There is medical staff on duty daily. Inmates are provided physical exams including a TB test and other tests as medically indicated. The staff physician must validate all prescriptions brought in from outside the facility, prior to being dispensed. Inmates can request to see the medical staff as needed.
Program Services
There are a number of programs available to the inmate population to provide constructive activity. These programs include:
- Recreation
- Law Library
- Religious services, including clerical counseling, Bible study, etc.
- Inmate worker status: all sentenced inmates are required to perform various tasks at the facility. Pre-trial inmates may volunteer for assignments if there is a specific need identified.
Telephone Communications
Telephones are installed in each housing unit for inmate use. These are collect call service charge telephones. The phones are set up so the calls are automatically limited to 5 minutes. To set up an account with the phone company call Securus at 1-800-844-6591.
First Appearance Hearings
All inmates charged with a crime should be seen by a judge normally within 24-hours. At that hearing, the judicial officer will ensure that you are advised of your rights, set bond, and prepare an application for appointed counsel. In light of the new laws governing victims' rights, these hearings will not be held until there have been reasonable attempts to contact the victims so they may be present if they so desire.

Jasper County Detention Center – Visitation
Family and friends are encouraged to visit. All inmates who have been classified into a housing unit are allowed visitors. Any inmates who may have lost their visitation privileges via violation of institutional rules will not be allowed to have visitation on their scheduled day. Each inmate is allowed one 60-minute visit per visiting period. A maximum of three adults only. Children are only allowed on designated holidays: Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter and Christmas. Three children may visit during that Holiday. All visitors must provide an official picture ID.
Special visitation
Can be approved by the Director or his designee for families who may reside out of state, this request must be presented at least 2 weeks prior to the requested date.
General population visitation hours:
- Alpha 1 Saturday – 12:00PM – 04:00PM
- Bravo 2 and 3 Saturday – 07:30AM – 10:30AM
- Bravo 1 (Female Inmate) Sunday – 07:30AM – 10:30AM
- Bravo 5 (Inmate Worker's) Sunday – 01:00PM – 04:00PM
Children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a LEGAL parent or guardian who is at least 21 or older.
Attorney's and Chaplains are allowed to visit anytime except during mealtimes, formal counts and shift change.
